Exciting position for a Senior Animal Sciences Veterinary Officer and Deputy Named Training and Competency Officer
We offer the opportunity for an enthusiastic senior veterinary officer
to lead a work group of specialist veterinary surgeons, bioveterinary scientists and animal technicians in the Animal Sciences of the Pathology & Animal Sciences Department, leading the delivery of live animal phases of infectious disease research and statutory disease surveillance functions, ensuring compliance with Home Office regulations (ASPA), developing and promoting the animal science discipline, and managing specialist staff and facilities within APHA.
The post holder will also develop the role as AWERB Chair deputy as
part of essential succession planning. This includes:
- Animal science project delivery and capability leadership
- Science Development
- Staff and facility management and Contract Management
- Named Veterinary Surgeon (NVS) and Deputy Named Training and Competency Officer responsibilities
- Corporate activities, budget oversight, administrative responsibilities, CPD and other duties as required.
- Study/Project management, Budget and Financial planning, and Resource and Succession planning
- Safety and Quality and Deputy Test Facility Manager (TFM) responsibilities
