Senior Laboratory Technician
We are searching for a Senior member of staff to join our small, friendly but busy veterinary laboratory near Cambridge. The post requires an experienced and self motivated person with good communication and IT skills who can contribute to the smooth working our laboratory team.
Ideally, candidates will have a biological science degree together with experience in an accredited laboratory (ISO 17025). Experience in conducting audits would also be advantageous.
As a Senior Lab Technician your primary responsibilities include:
Work streams include bacteriology, serology and we are looking to develop molecular techniques.
This is a full time role with weekend rota after completion of training period. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. Benefits include share scheme, buying and selling of holiday, pension, Perkbox, pet health savings and employee assistance programme.

- ensuring the quality system is implemented and followed at all times and meets requirements of ISO 17025 in the absence of the Lab Manager and Deputy Quality Manager
- organise daily workload of laboratory staff
- laboratory stock control
- purchase and receipt of goods
- answer clients and veterinary staff queries where necessary
- assist the Lab Manager and Deputy Quality Manager in organising the training of staff
- carry out all work in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures to ensure all results and reports produced are accurate and a true reflection of the samples
- to advance and maintain the efficiency in the lab
