Are you interested in completing a degree but unsure about going to University full time and want to gain valuable work skills?

Finn Pathologists are excited to be able to offer a Laboratory Scientist (Applied Biosciences) degree apprenticeship. Initially a laboratory assistant role with the opportunity to progress through the salary structure to laboratory technician. This is a full time laboratory post handling veterinary samples from veterinary surgeries both from the UK and overseas. Your role will be to follow protocols to process and test samples, ensuring the veterinary practices receive the right results in a timely manner.

This permanent post will include a distance learning level 6 degree apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will run for approximately 5 years at the end of which you will earn a Laboratory Scientist (Applied Biosciences) degree from Kent University.

Initially your days will involve preparing samples for testing. General laboratory housekeeping and helping the rest of the team achieve their daily goals. As you learn more, both within the company and through the apprenticeship you will rotate through the different disciplines to have an awareness of each area before making a decision on where you would like to continue your training. After completing your apprenticeship you will be able to continue your employment on a permanent basis.

You must be able to satisfy the entry requirements for the course. Ideally 80 UCAS points at A-level including Biology, with 5 Grade C or equivalent GCSE's including English and Maths. Other equivalent qualifications and experience will be considered.

Please be aware this role involves biological specimens, such as faeces, bodily fluids, blood and tissue. You will also be required to work with hazardous chemicals.
