Senior Technical Policy Manager

A rare opportunity is available for a highly motivated veterinary or animal science professional to join the team at NOAH as a Senior Technical Policy Manager.

Working at the intersection between government, industry and policy - you will have the opportunity to use your knowledge and experience within animal health to communicate with NOAH members, external stakeholders and policymakers to shape and help deliver the best environment for our members businesses to thrive.

Background

NOAH is the leading trade association representing the UK animal health industry: our aim is to promote the benefits of safe, effective, licensed medicines and solutions for the health and welfare of all animals. NOAH member companies are responsible for over 97% of all the animal medicines sold in the UK.

The animal health industry is highly regulated with legislation covering the authorisation, distribution and sale of medicines. This is an exciting time to join NOAH as we face the launch of the new UK Veterinary Medicines Regulations alongside other domestic legislation affecting business.

Against this highly technical background NOAH offers advice to its members on current and forthcoming legislation and acts as the main consultation point for the Government, regulatory authorities, media, politicians and other authorities.

NOAH also has key roles in communication on the benefits of animal medicines for animal health and welfare and has a self-regulatory Code of Practice on Promotion, produces the NOAH Compendium and provides training such as the NCAH (NOAH Certificate of Animal Health) and AMBP (Animal Medicines Best Practice) training programme for farmers.

The post will be remote with occasional meetings at our new co-working space in Stevenage. You will be required to represent NOAH at external meetings and there will be some travel outside the UK as we work closely with our European and global associations.

Profile

The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant field such as veterinary medicine, veterinary nursing, animal science, agriculture or biosciences, plus an understanding of issues facing companion animal owners and the livestock and veterinary communities.

Your experience of working within a membership organisation or government department will be very valuable as you will provide the secretariat for technical Committees, communicate key issues both with NOAH members and externally, and take ownership of specific projects. You will represent NOAH on a number of external stakeholder groups so you must be able to work independently and enjoy networking.

A good command of the English language, written and spoken, is required. Attention to detail is also vital, as is the flexibility to work on several concurrent subjects and the ability to work within a small multi-skilled team. Diplomacy and good judgement are essential.
