Equine Diplomat Referral Surgeon Scotland – Working across 4 sites MBM Vets, Avondale Vets, The Equine Vet Clinic and Forth Valley Vets

The Role

An exciting opportunity for an Equine Diplomat Referral Surgeon to join our collaborative network of practices in the West of Scotland working with the teams from MBM Vets, Avondale Vets, The Equine Vet Clinic and Forth Valley Vets.

The role will encompass leading the surgical caseloads referred into our central facilities. We envisage that the successful candidate would enjoy a mix of good quality first opinion and referral orthopaedics work with the associated diagnostic work and the ability to operate on our surgical cases and lead their aftercare.

This is a new role we are creating to focus our referrals into one or two hubs. You will be joining a progressive group of four practices and would be expected to drive the surgical, diagnostic and referral caseload.

Rota

Working up to 40 hours per week – flexibility on hours available and happy to consider part time candidates.

No night work – we are primarily planning to build an elective caseload from the patients we currently send outside our practice group.

Salary

  • Up to £110,000 negotiable D.O.E.
  • Relocation package up to £10,000

About Us

Three of our practices have inpatient facilities, two with operating facilities, one is building a new site. They are all established RCVS Accredited Equine practices within the west of Scotland. With 20 inpatient stables, full surgical and hospital facilities, hospital and ambulatory diagnostic equipment, and an extensive range of treatment technology. In-house laboratory facilities making it possible to run haematological and biochemical tests on site. We envisage our surgeon being based at two of these sites with referrals travelling into them.

We see our future surgeon, in the fullness of time, developing a team aligned with our people-focused culture, with a resident and interns becoming a natural progression of the increased caseload.

Applicant Requirements

Ideally would suit an Equine Surgeon with ECVS Diploma or equivalent. Candidates finishing a residency with plans for specialism are most welcome to apply.  This is a new position and we are looking for someone who would like to develop themselves and become a focal point for our equine work.  Must have full UK driving licence as a company pool vehicle will be provided. Must be RCVS registered.
