The Role

Scarsdale Vets have an exciting opportunity for a small animal vet to
join their ranks! No two days are ever the same at our local practices, as
part of this role you would work between our Mickleover practice and Pride Veterinary Centre enabling you to see a variety of patients to keep developing your skills and knowledge. We visualise you will become an integral part of the local community, trusted to provide the absolute best care and advice possible.

We have recently introduced set op and consult days each week to enable our practice teams to pre-book surgeries, giving more continuity of care for patients and offering a great service to clients. We offer a supportive environment for ops days where you will benefit from the support of a Practice Nurse, Trainee Nurse and Veterinary Care Assistant to help ensure the day runs as smoothly as possible. We are keen to develop specialist clinics at each practice so we can give a tailored experience to our clients.

The role is part-time, working an average of 23.50 hours over 3 days per week but we are happy to consider requests for less or more hours – the most important thing is finding the right person for our team! We offer our own out-of-hours service and have a dedicated experienced night team. You will take part in our weekend rota which works out as 1:4 Saturday Mornings at a local practice and 1:8 Sundays at our hospital with time off in lieu the next week. Admin time is factored into the week to make sure you can stay on top of paperwork.

We offer a competitive salary of up to £52,000 FTE depending on experience.

About Us

We are the largest provider of veterinary care in the East Midlands, our main hospital is home to a busy first opinion practice, a multidisciplinary referral service and an out-of-hours service, taking your skills to different locations. In total, we have 12 practice sites in Derby, Burton and Nottingham working within the local community offering a high-quality local service.

As a practice, we are constantly striving to improve the care we provide, and as a team, we regularly undertake CPD cascading and case discussions. Alongside this, we have a dedicated clinical governance group and a first opinion audit group. We actively encourage the development of our staff and have a number of team members holding or working towards certificates.

All our stand-alone practices are RCVS approved and have well-equipped facilities including imaging and full surgical facilities plus an onsite laboratory. We also have separate dog and cat wards to make sure we can keep our patients comfortable if they need to stay with us. We offer 15-minute Vet and Nurse consults.

About the Team and Culture

Our Mickleover Practice has been open in its current location since 2019 and is well established in the local area with regular clients. At the practice, you will be supported by an established team of friendly and well-trained Client Care Assistants (CCAs), Practice Nurse, Trainee Nurse, and Veterinary Care Assistants. You will work closely together each day, enabling you to build a close bond with team members, patients, and clients. We have a close-knit vet team who value the importance of supporting each other and sharing their knowledge to ensure we provide the best possible care to our patients.
