Job Details

Our independent client in Shropshire are looking for a Small Animal Veterinary surgeons to join their OOH team and expand their current team.

Located in an award-winning building in Shrewsbury this site is an exceptionally light and airy facility and makes a very pleasant environment in which to work.
You will be joining a team of experienced day and night vets who are supported by a very experienced team of qualified veterinary nurses. 

The team are looking for small animal vets with a minimum of 2 years experience to join them on a 7 on 14 off shift pattern as the team provide round the clock inpatient care.

The current experienced vets and nurses pride themselves on providing expert and loving patient care, treating pets as if they’re one of their own. Throughout the duration of an inpatient stay, naturally, it is quite common for the nursing staff to become quite attached to inpatients as they form a relationship with the animals during their recovery. 

Shrewsbury is one of the best-equipped surgeries in this group of 10 practices. Among other things the have an endoscope, full ultrasound and X-rays, full in-house labs including coagulation machines, and support from an extremely experienced orthopaedic surgeon who carries out advanced and complex procedures, including hip replacements. 

This client offers a real team environment and positively promotes cross function discussions about cases to ensure the ery best service for their clients.  They are also part of a larger network so have cert holders across most small animal disciplines who are available to offer support and advice if needed.

Inpatient facilities include:
Separate dog and cat wards to reduce stress in our feline patients
Stainless steel kennels, to allow thorough disinfection and cleaning between patients
Specialised oxygen kennel for animals suffering from breathing difficulties
Separate isolation kennel(s) area for barrier nursing of patients with infectious diseases
Walk-in kennels with easy clean padded mattresses for our larger canine patients
Absorbable, cosy vet beds for all patients and blankets for post-op recovery, with additional warm air blankets if required following prolonged procedures or young/small patients. 

You will need to be a confident and pro-active veterinary surgeon and be competent to work some sole charge shifts. 

Salary is dependent upon experience and will be discussed at interview.
