The Role

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic vet that can help to lead our team in Summerhill as Clinical Director alongside our other 2 Clinical Directors. Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about both patient care and the care of their staff. We have a large 9-site group that is divided into 4 regions, Cardiff, Blackwood, Cwmbran, and Newport. These regions are covered by our Clinical Director team and we are able to offer some flexibility in terms of which region the successful candidate will focus on.

You would have responsibility for all aspects of clinical work in the practice, along with budgetary oversight and working with our practice management teams on all other aspects of clinic management.

This is a flexible role, working 30-40 hours across 3-4 days per week, with 1 in 5 Saturdays working on a rota basis. No OOH.

The salary for this role is up to £80,000 subject to experience.

About Us

The Summerhill Group is very varied and diverse with many opportunities for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual. The main site in Newport is a busy hub with typically 5-6 vets working on any one day and is well equipped with the most advanced equipment including endoscopy, surgical/orthopaedic and dental equipment, and the latest diagnostic imaging and cardiology equipment. The other clinics are all pretty self-sufficient and are usually 1 or 2 vet sites. We have a wide range of skills in the group, including certificate holders in surgery, medicine, diagnostic imaging, cardiology, and feline medicine, and like to share and assist in the development of our team members.

The cities of Bristol, Newport and Cardiff are all very close to our clinics, along with the natural beauty spots of the Brecon Beacons, the Forest of Dean, and the beautiful South Wales coastline. So, there are many places you could base yourself.

Applicant Requirements

You will have extensive experience in small animal veterinary medicine and be confident in handling most situations. You will be a member of the RCVS. Ideally, you would have some advanced qualifications or interests but more importantly, you will be keen on leading and building a team of fantastic staff to be the best that they can be.
