The Role

Pool House veterinary practice are looking for two registered veterinary nurses to join the family at our busy 24/7 hospital in Lichfield. This is an exciting opportunity for nurses who want to be able to experience all areas of animal nursing life with the support of an amazing team behind them!

The required duties of this role include…

  • Caring for hospitalised patients with the support of a designated vet on our animal specific wards/kennels.
  • Working closely with the hydrotherapy team if there is a patient need, which is helpful to gain hints and tips on performing physiotherapy
  • Preparing animals for theatre, scrubbing in to assist with orthopaedics and abdominal surgeries, monitoring anaesthetic, dealing with the excellent facilities within our practice
  • Carry out in house lab tests
  • Promoting clinics such as weight clinics and habituations along with all the fun consults nurses can get involved with

This position is ideally full time, however, for the right candidate, we would consider part-time. This role includes working weekends and nights with a flexible and varied shift pattern whilst rotating around the above duties.  During out of hours shifts you will carry out phone work, deal with emergencies and nurse hospitalised patients. A veterinary surgeon will be on site all night also.

The salary for this role is up to £28,000 depending on experience.

We are fully equipped with in house blood machines, digital x-ray, ultrasound, capnography, endoscopy, laparoscopic equipment, multiparameter machine and a fully supportive team to run it. We are the main provider of out of hours coverage in the area, with 3 branch practices, powered by 3 Clinical Directors, 1 Practice Manager, 12 veterinary surgeons, 12 nurses and 4 veterinary care assistants. We also have plenty of administrative support that ensures the smooth running of this active practice. We assist the local Cats Protection and the Retired Greyhound Trust along with several other local charity facilities. Outside of work, we allow ourselves to have even more fun together at social events.
