The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Small Animal Veterinary
Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team here at Craemill Vets, Magherafelt! 

We are a busy first opinion practice covering 2 sites (Magherafelt & Cookstown). Day to day duties include a few morning consults followed by planned surgery/operations for that day before lunch then afternoon consults until 6pm. Depending on the applicant’s choice of full or part time hours, the days per week can be flexible. OOH is shared with a neighbouring practice giving a great work/life balance of 1 in 10 weeknights, 1 in 5 Saturdays and 1 in 10 Sundays. 

Salary for this role is up to £50,000 depending on experience and a relocation package of up to £5,000.

About Us

At Craemill Veterinary Clinic we pride ourselves in doing the absolute best for our clients and their pets in the local community. We are a long-established family practice with a very experienced team that joined IVC last year to augment our drive to provide the best working environment for staff and in turn optimum service to our clients. We are a 3 branch first opinion small animal and farm animal practice based in Mid-Ulster.

Our team is made up of 6 small animal vets and 4 farm animal vets with 15 nursing and support staff. We have purpose-built facilities including digital x-ray, ultrasound scanner, IDEXX in-house lab etc. We have 2 certificate holders and are also a training practice for vet nurses. We can provide accommodation if required and benefit in our location being only 30 minutes from Belfast and 40 minutes from the beautiful North Coast.

About the Team and Culture

We have a very sociable and welcoming team made up of 6 small animal vets & 4 farm animal vets including 2 certificate holders plus 15 nursing and support staff. You will need excellent communication skills, a sense of humour and ability to problem solve in an environment where every day is different! Locally, we sponsor a number of sporting teams/clubs (rugby, hockey, swimming) and events (Ladies Golf Open, Ploughing & Vintage Society) within the community and our SA Clinical Director also does educational school talks to emphasise responsible pet care and safety around animals. We are very aware of the importance of a happy team and care deeply about staff mental health and well-being.

Applicant Requirements 

The role is ideally suited to those with experience although new graduates are welcome to apply with structured support in-house & tailored CPD offered through the IVC Graduate Academy.
