The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Referral Medicine Clinician to join our team here at Bath Veterinary Group, Rosemary Lodge Veterinary Hospital!

You will be responsible for managing medicine cases to a referral standard, and for communicating with clients and referring vets.
Referral clinicians are expected to perform their own diagnostic imaging (ultrasound and CT) with the support of colleagues and remote specialist interpretation.

The role will be part-time, either working Wednesday-Friday (3/4 of
full time) or Thursday and Friday (1/2 of full-time). The weekend and weekday night on call rota is shared equally between referral clinicians, currently 1 in 6.

About Us

Bath Vet Referrals offers referrals in small animal medicine, soft
tissue surgery, orthopaedic surgery, medical neurology, spinal surgery, cardiology, ophthalmology and rehabilitation. We see referral cases from across the South West and South Wales. We have on site MRI, CT and separate modern surgical and medical endoscopy systems. Referral clinicians receive 6 weeks holiday per year plus bank holidays, RCVS renewal fees, medical insurance, CPD budget and 6 days CPD allowance. We have a small friendly team that work together to support each other. Bath Vet Referrals is part of the IVC Evidensia Referral Network.

About the Team and Culture

Our team of Advanced Practitioners consists of two medics and four surgeons. We have 9 Referral Nurses, some of which have certificates and the Advanced Nursing Diploma, with two nurses studying towards level 7 certificates. We have a visiting cardiologist and ophthalmologist.

Applicant Requirements

Applicants must have Advanced Practitioner or Specialist status in
Small Animal Medicine, ideally with a minimum of two years of post-qualification experience of managing complex medical cases. A high level of competence with ultrasound would be ideal, but further training in ultrasound and CT will be provided if necessary. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
