Job Details

The role:

We are currently looking for a qualified vet to join the team at our well-equipped, modern 24-hour hospital in Swanland, East Yorkshire. This role would suit anyone wanting to progress in all disciplines of veterinary practice, in particular surgery, diagnostic imaging & medicine but would also suit a general practitioner.

The hospital is beautifully situated and well cared for with a team of kennel assistants who maintain the cleanliness and a groundskeeper who looks after the exterior of the property. There is a large waiting area to separate out cats & dogs and separate wards for dogs, cats, and exotics. There is also accommodation available on site.

Working alongside the well established and capable team of vets and nurses you will have the opportunity to work a varied caseload from both the hospital itself and referrals from the surrounding Medivet practices whilst having access to equipment such as an MRI machine, CT scanner, and hydrotherapy pool with the separate treadmill.

This is a permanent, full-time position working 39 hours a week and 1:3 half or 1:6 full weekends with no OOH. Four-day week available, and part-time applications will be considered.

Salary negotiable, depending on experience, including:

  • - Accommodation allowance
  • - Company vehicle or vehicle allowance
  • - CPD allowance
  • - Payment of RCVS, BVA, and VDS fees

Employee Benefits:

  • - Relocation package of up to £2000
  • - 3 days paid CPD to leave per year
  • - 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays per annum
  • - 4 day week plus 1:3 half or 1:6 full weekend
  • - Pension scheme
  • - Paid sabbatical after five years’ service
  • - Funded Certificate opportunities
  • - Annual pay reviews
  • - Additional paid leave for exceptional attendance
  • - Colleague purchase scheme
  • - Enhanced maternity/paternity leave
  • - Hapibenefits – Receive a range of discounts on your shopping, entertainment, and meals out

We can also support Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa if you meet the criteria and are eligible to register as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS upon arrival in the UK.

Most of all you will get the support of a fantastic, hard-working, caring, friendly, and fun team of vets, nurses, receptionists, support, and branch staff, whilst working with a lovely & loyal client base. Medivet Swanland is a family!

Branch:

The Swanland team currently consists of three vets, a practice manager, two head nurses, seven RVNs, two student nurses, two patient care assistants, two client care assistants, and two kennel assistants. We also have a fully functioning night team to cover out of hours.

We have 24-hour hospitalization, separate dog, cat, exotic & isolation wards, three operating theatres, an inhouse lab, diagnostic imaging, including ultrasound, doppler, digital x-ray, CT scanner, mobile MRI, range of digital endoscopes, rhinoscopy and arthroscopy, diagnostic ECG, hydrotherapy, and laser therapy.

Medivet Swanland is situated in a rural, affluent part of East Yorkshire within beautiful countryside, with easy access to the North York Moors national park, East Yorkshire coastline & the cities of Kingston-Upon-Hull, Beverley, Lincoln, Leeds & York. The beautiful setting is echoed within the practice grounds themselves where you would be able to enjoy breaks & lunches surrounded by curated hanging baskets of flowers and countryside views.
