Rare opportunity for a Small Animal Vet to join a thriving hospital in Basildon, Essex offering exceptional levels of care. State of the art facilities including CT, MRI, and Certificate holders in wide range of disciplines. 4-day week with 1 in 5 weekends.

This thriving 24-hour RCVS Accredited Hospital is going from strength to strength. Offering exceptional levels of care out of its state-of-the-art facility.

The team of 14 skilled and enthusiastic vets love working together as a team and sharing their knowledge. There are many Certificate holders, so a fantastic environment for development and bouncing ideas off other members of the team. The nursing and support teams work to an excellent level and offer great support to the Vets.

Facilities wise, the practice has everything you could want in its 5 consult, 2 theatre site. This includes CT, laser therapy, laparoscopy, full range of surgical kit for soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, ultrasound, digital radiography, and even MRI on the way in summer, there is also a large prep room and comprehensive in-house laboratory.

As you might expect with this level of equipment and calibre of the team, the practice carries out a wide variety of complex cases including cruciates, BOAS, skin flaps, ophthalmology, and complex soft tissue/emergency procedures.

Forward-thinking, the practice is constantly looking to improve clinical standards and always open to feedback and suggestions from the team.

 

Key Duties

There is a great deal of clinical freedom within this role, and you will be encouraged to pursue your interests with full support of the wider team.

Generally speaking, the role is varied and there is a truly exciting caseload to get stuck into. Building relationships with clients is highly valued so will be allocated time to do this and work cases up thoroughly in house.

Although the hospital offers 24-hour care, there is a dedicated night team so no OOH with this role. The rota is for a 40-hour week over 4 days, and 1 in 5 weekends.

Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements

You must be a Veterinary Surgeon registered with the RCVS and eligible to work in the UK. Ideally you will have at least 1 years' experience in UK practice.

It is important that you want to work to high clinical standards and enjoy working within a collaborative team environment, and also value building long standing relationships with clients and their pets.
