Veterinary Surgeon Role, Melbourne, Australia

We are currently recruiting for the largest veterinary hospital in the southern hemisphere, searching for vets to join their passionate, friendly and welcoming team.

Based in Melbourne, you will benefit from all that the diverse, cultural city has to offer. Consistently voted as one of the world's most liveable cities, Melbourne boasts everything from thriving nightlife, entertainment and restaurants to sports, natural wonders, wildlife and nature. The hospital itself has state of the art facilities, and is currently undergoing a multimillion dollar refurbishment project to take it up to another level. Equipment includes 16 slice CT scanning, ECG, fluoroscopy, ultrasound with doppler unit, surgical kit for advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures, dental suite/radiography, endoscope, and much more.

There is an amazing team of over 40 vets and 100 nurses with a wide ranging set of clinical interests. Everyone loves what they do, and there is a large element of giving back to the community to help those with lower incomes access first class veterinary care.

Key Duties

• As well as routine work, the hospital also manages complex cases in oncology, advanced soft tissue/orthopaedics, and ongoing medical issues
• Full time vets work 4 day weeks with weekends on a fair rota basis (either a Saturday or Sunday, never both, which is paid as overtime on top of base salary). Breaks are scheduled throughout the morning, lunch and afternoon to ensure the days are broken up.
• All rounders as well as those with specific interests are welcome to apply.

Package and Benefits

• Total packages range from around $120,000AUD-$180,000AUD which is made up of the following:

• Overtime rates (includes weekends/holiday shifts paid at 1.5-2x salary rate)

• This is in addition to 4 weeks holiday and 10 public holidays.

Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements

• Ideally you will have at least two years of experience in veterinary practice. Previous experience in a hospital or busy first opinion would be useful but not essential.
• You should thrive on working to high clinical standards alongside a passionate team. Vets with special interests are certainly encouraged to apply alongside those who love a varied role!
