Joining our professional, personable team in our Washington practice in Tyne & Wear, you’ll deliver exceptional care by going beyond consulting to listen and empathising, putting patients and clients first, always.

As qualified MRCVS, you’ll already have good experience gained in small animal practice. You’ll be competent in clinical examination and surgery and confident working sole charge or as part of the wider team. You will also display good communication skills and the desire to share your knowledge and skills by being an outstanding, positive example to others.

Our Vets also benefit from an excellent support structure and collaborative approach; with the opportunity to call upon our experienced Vets and certificate holders in the region for advice whenever you need it.

Full time working is a 4.5 day week, 1 in 3 Saturday mornings (9am-12pm) with time off in lieu after working the Saturday. No OOH or bank holidays.

Salary package up to £65,269 per annum full time equivalent (pro rata for part time hours)

We can also support Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa if you meet the criteria and are eligible to register as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS upon arrival in the UK.

Skills and experience:

You must be competent and confident with routine surgery and 1st opinion work. 

The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years qualified experience with a special interest (ideally with a surgical bias), either hold or would like to study towards a certificate. The practice can also offer mentoring on-site for surgery. 

Branch:

Medivet Washington is made up of a passionate and friendly team of 4 Vets, 3 RVNs and 7 Support Staff including a dedicated Practice Manager. Our Veterinary Surgeon Julie holds a certificate in Small Animal Dermatology, including being RCVS Chief Examiner in the RCVS CertVD. 

The clinic is RCVS Small Animal General Practice accredited and an RCVS VN Training Practice.

Facilities include 3 consult rooms, theatre, imaging room including digital x-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy, large dental suit with digital radiography, separate dog and cat/exotic wards, plus is the only practice in the North East to offer CO2 laser surgery which enables us to undertake more advanced surgery such as BOAS surgery, interdigital ablations, TECA/LBO. The practice also sees dental, dermatology and laser surgery cases. Maintaining clinician skills with practical CPD and mentoring is a priority for the practice.
