The role:

We are seeking a Regional Student Manager to join us in an exciting new role! 

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to our SVN and PCA population within the Watford region ensuring a supported route of progression throughout their careers.

You will collaborate with the regional team regarding SVN support across the Watford region, as well as ensure strategies and aims are aligned with that of business and identify training needs to support the growth, structure, and professional development of our nursing population.

You will be responsible for the provision of support to Clinical Supervisors, Clinical Coaches, and mentors overseeing the progress of our student population.

The successful candidate will be passionate about facilitating a learning environment in which SVNs and PCAs can thrive, grow and contribute to a robust Registered Veterinary Nurse population within Medivet and be supported to reach their full potential to deliver the best care possible.

Salary and hours: 

  • - Salary of £30,000 per annum 
  • - Monday to Friday 09:00-17:30
  • - Fixed Term Contract with potential to turn Permanent

Key accountabilities:

  • - Responsible for providing support to Clinical Supervisors, Clinical Coaches, and mentors within  Medivet identifying their training needs and reaching their full potential
  • - You will need to identify training needs across Medivet and ensure the delivery of resources by collaborating with other departments as required
  • - Support students in achieving their training goals
  • - Follow Medivet policies and procedures and ensure they are implemented along with maintaining effective record keeping and data collection to drive delivery of objectives
  • - Support our SVN Apprenticeship Manager in reviewing our nursing strategy and aims including ongoing effectiveness of training programmes and effect change where necessary
  • - Ensure that Medivet practices that are training practices are able to deliver student training to the standard expected by the RCVS and support course providers to address actions as needed
  • - Determine which practices are currently not training practices that are able to become training practices and support to facilitate this

Skills and experience:

  • - Registered Veterinary Nurse or MRCVS with at least three years of experience in practice
  • - Flexibility to travel to all clinics in the Watford region
  • - Enthusiasm for promoting best practice
  • - Experience working in a veterinary nursing education setting would be beneficial
  • - Experience in creating and delivering training programmes would be beneficial
  • - Experience in teaching and training student nurses for clinical and soft skills
  • - IQA or D32/D33 is advantageous
  • - Good presentation skills
  • - High level of literacy and technical writing
  • - Good time management and an ability to work to tight deadlines
  • - Ability to motivate and influence others
  • - Exceptional communication skills
  • - Full UK driving license

Branch:

You will be part of the regional team and support the students and clinical coaches throughout the Watford 1 and 2 regions, which are made up of branches across Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas. 

This role will be working from home but requires travel to practices within the region to perform reviews and provide in-house support to SVNs and clinical coaches.
