The Role

Alpha Veterinary Centre is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their senior team at their Risca branch offering gold standard care to our pets and Clients. This role is an excellent opportunity for a vet who wants to develop abilities and focus on any special interests, as we hope to expand the types of services we can offer. You will need to be well organised, enjoy working within a team and be motivated. We actively encourage certificates and are keen to develop your skills to a top standard. The successful candidate will be joining our supportive team, and have the option to develop into a senior role if this interests you, offering the perfect stepping stone into a Clinical Director role!

We would consider flexible working and this position can be split between our Langstone and Risca branches, or whatever works for you! We are very lucky to be the only practice in the UK that has a VetsNow 24/7 site running alongside us in the Langstone building. VetsNow specialise in emergency critical care, covering the OOH in our area, and our teams regularly share cases and work together.

The salary for this role is up to £65,000 depending on experience.

About Us

Risca is a well-established practice located in a small friendly town, with lots of local amenities close by. At Risca, we are 100% SA, whilst our branch in Langstone is also a referral hub for orthopaedic and spinal cases. We are also very lucky to be host practice to a VetsNow 24/7 site, so we have a huge range of cases and opportunities. We have excellent facilities including 3 consulting rooms, digital x-rays, ultrasound, and high-quality dental equipment including dental x-ray.

Our Langstone branch is located just of the M4 corridor in Newport and takes referrals in orthopaedics and spinal cases. Langstone has recently been refurbished, to include separate dog and cat wards, a dental suite, along with X-ray/Ultrasound, flexible and rigid endoscopy, laparoscopy, harmonic scalpel and orthopaedic and spinal equipment.

About the Team and Culture

Our wonderful team is made up of 5 vets supported by 12 nurses, 2 VCA's and 9 receptionists/admin team. We have two surgical certificate holders, who take referrals in orthopaedic and spinal cases, and we strongly encourage the personal development of our staff, including gaining certificates and CPD, which is funded along with all IVC benefits. You will have strong support from an experienced management team - an excellent, efficient reception team and an exceptional, super-friendly nursing team who are hungry for knowledge and keen to achieve the highest standards of care.

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for an RCVS Veterinary Surgeon with competence in all routine medical and surgical procedures. Specific interests are welcomed and encouraged, so just let us know where your passions lie.
