Gateway Vets has an opportunity for a qualified and experienced vet. The position would ideally suit an experienced vet , however we would seriously consider a new graduate with a positive attitude.

This position could suit you if you have the ability to build strong client relations, fit into a team environment easily and are ready for the next challenge.

We are a privately owned business operating out of a purpose built rural clinic in Geraldine. The clinic is recently extended, situated on an aesthetic rural section and is easily able to accommodate further expansion. You will find a digital x-ray, the latest BCF scanners and a dedicated in-house laboratory for in-house milk analysis, haematology, biochemistry and parasitology.

Our growth since opening eight years ago has been driven by the enthusiasm and energy of our close knit team. Our support staff are friendly and competent, our qualified technicians are experienced and efficient.

The position will be varied, stimulating and exciting. Case load is predominantly dairy but we have enough sheep, beef, deer and small animals if you like some variety. Data analysis using Infovet, preventative animal health plans, consultative services like In-Calf and financial benchmarking are an increasing component of the services we offer. This provides a dynamic work environment to achieve best practice for our clients.

Gorgeous Geraldine is a beautiful South Canterbury town central for the whole South Island. We are one hour from good ski fields and lakes for water skiing, the Rangitata is an ideal river for adventure sport training and we are just one and a half hours to Christchurch and an international airport. It is an excellent place to bring up your family with good schools and strong sports clubs.

We offer excellent collegial support, generous $3000 annual CPD allowance, pay VCNZ fees, provide a fully equipped new 4wd truck, cellphone, laptop and a competitive salary and re-location packages for the right applicant. 

The hours are 8am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday with no Saturday clinic. The quiet afterhours is rostered on 1 in 6 weekends with a day off following on-call (Friday to make it a long weekend).
