An exciting opportunity exists in the South Atlantic for a full time vet
to join the small, busy and very varied practice in the Falkland Islands.
 

The Role

The Veterinary Services of the Falkland Islands Government invites applications for the post of Veterinary Officer.

The position consists of a combination of clinical and public health duties including supervision in an EU approved Abattoir and the Fishing Industry.  Out of hours are not usually busy and are worked on a 1:3 rota system.  

The Person

Applicants must have at least 5 years’ clinical experience including surgical skills and preferably have Official Veterinary qualifications or must be willing to obtain them.

The person best suited to this position should be capable of working as part of a small dedicated team, be prepared to fill a varied role, and interact closely with the community of the Falkland Islands to provide a complete, professional clinical and public health Veterinary Service

The Package

  • Fixed Term Contract, up to 4 years.
  • Starting Salary £42,457 - £47,072 (depending on qualifications and experience) rising to £57,426.
  • Eligibility for a 25% gratuity, paid upon successful completion of the contract
  • 30 days annual leave, plus government and public holidays (totalling 41 days leave)
  • Relocation allowance, to help with moving costs.
  • Flights package for you and recognised dependants at the beginning and end of contract, and additional annual return flights contingent on the duration of the contract
  • Government housing for rent at a subsidised rate and a starter pack to help you settle in.
