The role:

We are seeking a Head Veterinary Nurse to join our Mansfield Cottage practice. This role would be suitable for a Registered Veterinary Nurse however a 3rd year student due to qualify may be considered. Previous experience working in a small animal practice is required. The role will involve all aspects of nursing as well as the day-to-day running of the practice. This position provides you with the opportunity to develop nursing clinics and use your initiative to promote new ideas; more responsibilities will form part of this role with full support being provided by the nursing team.

As a Head Veterinary Nurse you will be responsible for a variety of nursing duties as well as sharing best practice with your team and helping to support and develop the student nurses in your practice. All of our head nurses are provided with dedicated support from our head-office; here the stress of managing your rota, dealing with recruitment, H&S, practice standards, marketing (and much more!) is taken care of, and while there are still admin duties involved in your role, this support will allow you to spend more time managing your team and doing what you love, nursing!

You will be working 40 hours per week with the standard 1 in 6 weekend shifts as well as a fair share of bank holiday and on-call. We are looking to implement a 4 day week for RVN's this year, and a 1 in 8 weekend rotation staffing permitting.  

Salary and Benefits

Salary £27,543 - £32,000 per annum depending on experience, qualification status and time frame with Medivet if internal

£300 CPD allowance, 2-days CPD leave and in-house CPD available

Ongoing training is provided as relevant to your role

Key accountabilities:

The role of Head Nurse is to aid the Branch Partner with the running of the practice by providing support to the rest of the clinical team. Accountabilities include;

- line management of second student/PCA

- Debt management

- Clinical supervisor to students

- Liaising and organising of surgeries that need to attend the hospital

- Absence management 

- General nursing responsibilities 

- Ensuring all protocols and policies are in place such as health and safety and practice    standards

Branch:

Full time position at Medivet Mansfield Cottage however weekends, bank holidays and on-call at Enfield 24 hour Hospital.

The successful Head Nurse candidate will join a small and friendly team that comprises of a Branch Partner & Veterinary Surgeon and a student nurses.
