Our New Graduate Programme 2022

The George Veterinary Group provides opportunities annually across our four species departments for new graduates who will benefit in a large independent veterinary practice with group benefits. We will enable you to become the high-quality vet you want to be - clinically confident, a good decision maker and a team player in veterinary medicine.

As a new graduate at our independent practice, you will be working directly with the practice owners and decision makers who can respond quickly and flexibly to your individual situation. Our programme provides the resource and support to ensure you develop your clinical skills, gain the confidence and trust of your clients, and grow your area of competence for the rest of your career.

Whether you are looking to focus on small animal, equine, farm or pigs we have a programme which is bespoke to you and your discipline, with your own experienced mentor. You will benefit from the support of your team and, furthermore, our own intern group and young vet network.

In 2022, we are looking for two interns to join our wonderful and progressive small animal team at our well-equipped veterinary hospital. We ensure that our graduates have exposure to a wide caseload and the opportunity to develop their skills in a supported and encouraging envi-ronment. The first role as a veterinary surgeon we know to be crucial and therefore we have tailored our programme to provide a fantastic balance of surgical development, mentoring and internal training. As a result,
candidates can expect to finish the internship as confident, skilled and enthusiastic professionals, well prepared for the next phase of their veterinary career. Our programme begins in August.

For those interested in livestock, there are up to two opportunities
with The George Farm Vets
which covers farms throughout Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Bristol. Our farm team of 18 vets (5 certificate holders), 3 administrators and 3 pharmacy staff has opportunities for new graduates to join us in September. We have developed a bespoke new graduate programme that gives time, mentoring, expertise, experience, and a huge amount of guided support with regular reviews
to those who enjoy the great outdoors.

There is also a great wealth of experience with certificate and diploma holders within our Equine Clinic and Pig Practice teams and both also offer bespoke programmes starting in late summer.  For all ambulatory roles we provide all the necessary tools to support you on visits, including a vehicle. We are inviting applications for both departments, although there may yet not be an opportunity within the Equine Clinic in 2022.

We are committed to our new graduates and to the majority we are able a permanent role on completion of their first year. We employ over 40 vets and many of these have joined us through the New Graduate Intern Programme. You can find out more by visiting our website on our graduate opportunities page https://www.georgevetgroup.co.uk/student-and-graduate-opportunities/ to find testimonials from current and former graduates across every clinical department and more about the benefits of starting your veterinary career with The George.
