A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a lead veterinary surgeon to join our fantastic team based at our mixed practice in Matlock, Derbyshire.

This is a clinical leadership position within a Medivet practice and is an excellent opportunity for someone wishing to take ownership to make a practice their own.

General duties & expectations include:

  • Providing direction and leadership to colleagues in practice.
  • To be responsible for the financial and operational performance of your practice and overall team performance/engagement.
  • Ensuring the delivery of exceptional clinical quality and care standards in your practice.
  • Encouraging a progressive clinical culture.
  • Following and implementing Medivet policies and procedures while ensuring they are adhered to by your team.
  • Work with your area manager and practice colleagues to deliver exceptional care whilst driving your practice forward.

As well as your day to day duties within practice caring for your patients and clients, you will play a key role in leading and managing the team. You will have the drive and ambition to develop the practice client base, ensuring high standards of care are always delivered.

This is a permanent, full or part-time position based on a 4 day week and a share of weekend work. If you are a mixed vet, a share of the large animal on call rota will also form part of the role.

Salary package up to £60,000 PA, including:

  • Competitive basic salary.

As qualified MRCVS, you’ll already have good experience gained in either small animal or mixed practice. You’ll be competent in clinical examination and surgery and confident working sole charge or as part of the wider team. Sharing our values being trustworthy, caring and progressive, you will have all the softer skills essential to working effectively and empathetically, such as good communication skills, mediation experience, and the ability to share knowledge and lead by being an outstanding, positive example to others.

Skills and experience:

You must be a RCVS registered vet to apply for this position and 2+ year qualified, ideally with some Team Leader experience.

We encourage both small animal and mixed vets to apply for this position.

Branch:

The branch is a mixed practice situated in Matlock in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside and on the edge of the Peak District.

The practice is also supported by an Area Manager and Regional Director to ensure the practice and the employees develop and grow in their role.
