The Role

Here at Wheelhouse Vets, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head Veterinary Surgeon to take on a leadership role in our large practice. The successful applicant will have a lot of managerial and clinical support in place. You will also be leading a team of 7 Vets, including 2 certificate holders, in a busy, high-end Veterinary Practice in Buckinghamshire.

The role centres around the leadership of the veterinary team, from running the day to planning individual vets’ personal and professional development plans. The candidate will also be involved in the direction of the practice with regards to clinical excellence and team engagement, with dedicated meetings to discuss these areas with the other team leaders.

Salary

The salary will be up to £57,500 dependent on experience.

About Us

We are a first opinion small animal practice located in the picturesque countryside of the Chilterns, perfect for horse riding, cycling, and walking. We are surrounded by golf clubs and country parks such as Wendover Woods, Black Park and Langley Park, all while being within easy commute of London.

Wheelhouse Vets are a fully equipped and modernised RCVS accredited practice striving to achieve the highest standard of care in South Buckinghamshire. We have surgeries in Chesham, Chalfont St Giles, Amersham, and Beaconsfield.

We are very well equipped with endoscope, laparoscopic bitch spays, ultrasound scanner, DR and CR Radiography, Class 4 Laser, and 3 consultation rooms. We have Vets who have completed or undergoing certificates in surgery (including orthopaedics), internal medicine, feline medicine, cardiology, dermatology, ophthalmology, oncology and ECC. We also encourage further training amongst our nurses, with certificates in anaesthesia, exotics, physio and ECC.

The Wheelhouse has been established for over 50 years and puts a strong emphasis on clinical excellence and team engagement. With
4 branches and a total of 42 clinical team members (16 Vets and 26 Nurses) we are a team who support each other and can deal with most
of the clinical work that walks (or is carried) through the door.

As a practice, we actively support several different charities both locally and nationally each year including StreetVet, Marjorie Nash Cat Rescue, and Macmillan Cancer Support.

We also have monthly 1-2-1 catchups with our teams and other regular meetings such as practice zoom meetings, vet’s meetings, and clinical club.
