The Role
We are looking for a veterinary surgeon with experience to fill a vacancy in our well-respected Cambridge city practice.
The candidate should be proficient in general practice including consultations, general surgery and dentistry.
We are looking for someone full time to work 40 hours 4 days a week
(10 hours each) but would also consider one or two part time roles for
the right applicants. The candidate will contribute to a fair share of the weekend rota which comprises of 1:7 Saturdays morning consults, and 1:7 weekends. The latter involves Saturday morning consults, emergency procedures if required (and simple), and visiting care for any inpatients over the weekend (if present).
There is no out of hours requirement as we use a dedicated provider, and most inpatients are transferred to them.
Salary FTE £40,000-£54,000 depending on experience.
About Us
Cambridge Veterinary Group is a single site practice with a family feel.
We have 3 consultations rooms, a prep area with vivaria for exotics, and an isolation room. Outside we have an aviary with plans to expand.
We have one theatre and an x-ray room including whole body x-ray and a dental x-ray unit.
Our equipment includes ultrasound, endoscopy, x-ray and dental x-ray, K-laser, ECG, doppler blood pressure and various anaesthetic monitoring devices.
We have a fantastic, loyal client base due to our history in the city. We like to work up our cases utilising our certificate holders in Diagnostic Imaging, Medicine and our Exotics Referral team. We perform staged dentistry in order to minimise risk and maximise planning and time management.
Cambridge is a well-known historic city, small enough to travel around by bike, with excellent transport links to London and Stansted as well as the Midlands. We are just over an hour from the beautiful long stretches of beach on the Norfolk Coast.
About the Team and Culture
We have 8 vets and 9 nurses and 9 support staff, and we are a nurse training practice.
We have certificate holders in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging and Small Animal Medicine, and an RCVS recognised specialist in Avian Medicine.
With the QVSH, Dick White Referrals and East of England Veterinary Specialists all on our doorstep, with our spoilt with local referral centres and support, but we can also refer for just CT and keep such cases within the practice.
We are looking for someone to join our family-oriented team where we support each other. We care about our staff and our aim is to enjoy lunch and leave on time, ensuring your work life balance.
