The Role

We are looking for a small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at Nithsdale Vets, Dumfries and Thornhill. This is a full-time role with a mix of consults and general surgery from neutering to osteoarthritis as ell a vaccinations, working a share of weekends on a 1:5 rota basis as well as 1 weeknight out of hours on a shared rota. Salary from £33,000 negotiable D.O.E.

About Us

Nithsdale Vets is a two-site small animal practice in Dumfries and Galloway. Both sites operate self-sufficiently with in suite labs, digital x-ray, ultrasound etc. We are a friendly practice with an experienced team who are always happy to help each other out. Interesting and varied caseload, majority of cases managed in house. Friendly town with good range of amenities, excellent area for outdoor pursuits.

Our team consists of 7 Veterinary Surgeons (5 FTE), 5 Veterinary Nurses, with one certificate holder in surgery. We work closely with the local rescue centres, Blue Cross and PDSA and try to provide veterinary treatment to all.

Applicant Requirements

The ideal candidate will be RCVS registered and competent in all routine surgeries, although support can be provided where needed. You will be an enthusiastic, passionate, patient and caring individual who is a team player and committed to providing outstanding clinical care and customer service. Due to our location and working between two sites, a driving license is essential.
