The Role

We are looking for a motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse to manage our dedicated, hardworking team of qualified and student nurses. Based at our RCVS accredited hospital in Skipton you would have some responsibility for managing and co-ordinating theatre, liaising with vets in order to prioritise procedures, delegating tasks within the nursing team.

We are looking for someone who is committed to providing high standards of care both for the pets and our clients. You must be extremely well organised and have lots of enthusiasm and energy to be able to lead, motivate and encourage the nursing team.

Other duties will include producing and managing the nurse rota, ensuring all shifts are covered for holiday's, developing student nurses, ensuring equipment is maintained and serviced as required, liaising with the stock team, co-ordinating visiting vet students.

This role is Full time working 8 hours per day Monday to Friday. Our core working day is 8.30am - 5.30pm. There may be some later shifts required on the nursing rota to 7pm. We do provide our own OOH service so there may be a requirement to pick up some ad hoc cover for holidays or sickness but we anticipate this role to be carried out during the core working hours. The salary is dependent on experience. The working hours may be negotiable for the right applicant.

About Us

Located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, Kingsway is a well-established hospital and have been providing high quality veterinary care to the residents of Craven for over 85 years. The main hospital is purpose built and has been developed and refurbished to include 2 theatres, modern prep room, separate dog and cat kennelling areas.

We have a full in-house lab, ECG, digital x-ray, rigid and flexible endoscopy, ultrasound with colour flow doppler. We have a number of multi-disciplinary certificate holders for the work is varied.

We truly value our nurses and opinions. You would work alongside the nursing team and so will be involved in all aspects of veterinary nursing including clinics, post op and in-patient care.

Applicant Requirements

We require an experienced RVN who has advanced clinical skills preferably with a Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing or equivalent. You should be able to demonstrate experience of leading and developing a nursing team, with the ability of sharing clinical knowledge to keep improving standards within the team. You would be part of the management team attending meetings as nurse clinical manager.
