The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our awesome nursing team of 3 full-time RVNs, 3 part-time RVNs, 1 trainee RVN (currently on maternity leave) & 1 VCA here at Mintlaw Vets in Aberdeenshire.

The role entails a combination of surgical nursing, anaesthetic monitoring, radiography, inpatient care, in house lab work, nurse clinics and consultations. We believe in empowering and encouraging our nurses to utilise their nursing skills to the full. Nurse consults include second vaccinations, rebandaging/wound management, therapeutic laser, blood sampling and blood pressure checks. Our nurses also run clinics which include weight management, puppy, arthritis, dental, diabetic and behaviour. Our nurses are encouraged to pursue their passions such as an ISFM certificate and rabbit qualification.

The successful candidate will work a 4 day week, compromising 4 x 10h shifts between the hours of  8am till 6pm or 9am till 7:30pm. In addition 1 in 5 weekends (Saturday & Sunday morning clinics). There is no on-call.

 About Us

We are a busy small animal practice with a loyal client base. We work in a modern, purpose-built, well equipped surgery including digital x-ray, dental x-ray, k-laser, flexible endoscope, ultrasound and in-house lab.  See our web page for more information www.mintlawvets.co.uk

Mintlaw Vets is unique in that we are a rural 100% small animal practice set in a developing village within Aberdeenshire’s beautiful countryside. Hills, forests, beaches and rocky coastline all within easy reach. We even have two RSPB sites only 20 minutes way. Local towns are Peterhead and Ellon with our nearest city, Aberdeen only 40 minutes away.

Our friendly, supportive team consists of five vets (2 full time, 3 part time). We have a soft tissue surgery certificate holder with another vet working towards her small animal medicine certificate. We also have a vet who practices acupuncture. We have three full-time RVNs, three part-time RVNs, a trainee RVN, and a VCA. Lastly but most certainly not least we are supported by an incredible dedicated reception team and practice manager.

Here at Mintlaw we are passionate about maintaining the highest level of client and patient care. CPD is actively encouraged & supported as are individual interests. We encourage positive communication within and between our teams and run both nurse team & practice meetings twice monthly. We also have a newly formed Green team working with the aim of reducing our environmental impact as a practice.

Applicant Requirements

To complement our current nursing team we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic RVN with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is passionate about providing outstanding pet healthcare and customer service to our clients. Ideally, we’re looking for a full-time nurse but would certainly consider applicants looking for a part-time role.
