Wear Referrals is a multi-disciplinary, specialist veterinary referral hospital in the North East of England, close to the historic university city of Durham, the thriving city of Newcastle and set between the north east coast and the Pennines. We have services in neurology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia, oncology, diagnostic imaging and cardiology, as well as a busy out of hours emergency service and in-house physiotherapy and hydrotherapy teams.

Our hospital facilities include a dedicated ICU staffed 24 hours a day, spacious well-designed wards with walk-in kennels, in-house 1.5T Siemens Magnetom Essenza MRI, 16 slice Siemens Somatom Emotion helical CT, digital radiography, digital fluoroscopy,a Samsung RS85 ultrasound system and Arthrex / Karl Storz laparoscopic and arthroscopic imaging systems.

The Oncology Intern position is a fixed term role for 12 months and offers the successful candidate the opportunity to improve their experience and knowledge in the management of small animal oncology patients.

Wear Referrals has a new and rapidly growing Oncology service, comprising of a European Specialist in medical oncology, supported by a team of dedicated oncology nurses. The team and facilities are growing rapidly, and a flexible approach to work is required, including OOH shifts. This is a great time to join Wear Referrals as we expand our offering and invest in new services. Joining a new team will allow the successful can-didate to play a key role in developing and shaping the service, working within an exceptional team. This position would ideally suit someone who had completed a Rotating Internship, is interested in pursuing specialist training in Oncology, is keen to be involved in clinical research and who has completed recent CPD in Oncology.

We encourage an evidence-based multi-disciplinary approach, suppor-ting a process of continuous learning and a collegiate atmosphere. We have an active internship programme and are expanding our residency programmes. Our extensive clinical caseload  provides an interesting variety of cases and supports ongoing clinical research that is actively encouraged and supported.
