Highcroft Veterinary Referrals/Bristol Veterinary Specialists

We are excited to offer a three year clinical training post, starting in July 2022, that will take place at Highcroft Veterinary Referrals/Bristol Veterinary Specialists in Bristol, UK. You will be supervised and supported by three senior clinical neurologists to prepare you for the ECVN diploma examinations after completion of the programme.

Highcroft Veterinary Referrals offers a state-of-the-art specialist neurology and neurosurgery service along with a broad range of specialist veterinary referral services including internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, anaesthesia, imaging, dermatology. Highcroft Veterinary Referrals has state-of-the-art equipment and highly experienced nursing teams which means that we receive cases from all over the country and give the assurance of exceptional care to all of our patients. The neurology service is also composed of a neurology intern and two nurses with a dedicated role to the running of the service. Highcroft Veterinary Referrals will be relocating to a brand new state-of-the-art purpose built hospital in summer 2022, then becoming Bristol Veterinary Specialists. The hospital will be fully equipped and will be the only hospital in the South West to have a linear accelerator (link to new hospital).

Personal specification for application

A proactive, professional approach and a positive attitude at all times, together with outstanding interpersonal skills, an ability to stay calm under pressure, great team work skills, and a commitment to practising the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care is required.

If you think you have these skills and wish to apply for the residency programme you must be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon and be eligible for full Membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).

A minimum of twelve months experience working as a qualified Veterinary Surgeon in small animal private practice in the UK is essential. We expect that candidates will have completed a minimum of a one year rotating internship. There is also a need to conduct research projects as part of the residency requirements and therefore an interest in research is desirable.
