About SASH:
The Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH), was established in North Ryde, Sydney in 2007 with a second hospital opening on the Central Coast of New South Wales in 2017. We are also excited to announce that we are opening a brand new purpose-built specialist veterinary facility in South Australia in November 2021. Our core purpose is to help pets and their families live their best life.

SASH is the largest veterinary specialist hospital group in the Southern Hemisphere. SASH offers a wide range of specialist services including Anaesthesia, Avian & Exotics, Cardiology, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Medical and Radiation Oncology, Ophthalmology, Pathology, Physiotherapy, Radiology, Reproduction Medicine, Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation, Surgery and a renowned 24-hour Emergency and Critical Care department.

The Emergency Department provides care to over 10,000 patients per year and the Critical Care Department over 5,000. We provide mechanical ventilation to 40-50 patients per year and conduct over 300-400 blood transfusions per year. We have recently opened our purpose built Emergency Department and separate Intensive Care Unit which has a 40-patient capacity. These areas are equipped with multi-parameter monitors, telemetry, high-flow nasal oxygen, visco-elastic coagulation testing, multiple Puritan Bennett ventilators amongst other essential equipment. You will be supported by a team of 8 full time Emergency Veterinarians and an excellent nursing staff of over 30 nurses. The Department has an active ACVECC Residency program, and an ECC Specialty Internship program; rotating interns also rotate through the Emergency department.

About the Role:
SASH North Ryde is recruiting for a FOURTH full-time Emergency and Critical Care Specialist due to the ongoing growth the Emergency and Critical Care Departments. Your primary role will be to provide the best care to Critical Care patients and provide support to the Emergency Department. In addition, we actively encourage you to collaborate with departments on cases to ensure they provide the best care, educate clients and referring vets. The training of interns, residents, emergency vets and nurses is an essential part of this role.

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • Board certified or Board eligible in Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC, ECVECC, FANZCVS)
  • Veterinary Degree recognised by the New South Wales Veterinary Practitioners Board
