VetFinders are currently recruiting for a practice in Devizes, Wiltshire, looking for a part time Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon, with immediate effect. They offer a flexible shift pattern involving out of hours, weekend, and evening work.
They are a seven-vet equivalent hospital and referral practice who provide 24hr cover to their own clients only. This practice believes in the high standards of patient care they offer and this should be always available for all clients. Full access to all diagnostic tools including CT with the support of a very experienced emergency care nurse is available.
The case load is reasonable – some nights you may have no calls at all. When the interesting cases arise you have time, facilities and back up from the rest of the team. You would be part of the inpatient care team and will be involved in the case discussions and development of care plans.
The role is non-residential if you live within 30 minutes of the practice. There is the option of onsite accommodation if you prefer.
We are looking for at least two weeknight duties, one weekend in four and an additional Saturday. However, additional day or evening hours would also be available, bringing this up to a full-time position for those interested for more hours.

The Role:
We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic, Veterinary Surgeon committed to providing high standards of patient and client care. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience; this is not essential, but preferred. This is a permanent, part time position, (full time applicants will also be considered), working 2 nights per week on call.
The ideal candidate must be fully competent in surgery, due to the nature of the role.
This role is being offered on a permanent basis, with a rota adapted to suit the applicant. There is a flexible approach to the rota, and nothing is set in stone. The aim is that everyone has a good work/life balance.
This role is supported clinically by a wonderful team of 22 RVNs, utilised in their full capacity, with an impressive range of experience and extra qualifications between them.
About the practice:
An independent, family-owned veterinary practice on the outskirts of Devizes, Wiltshire. Their focus will always be on high-quality, compassionate care. They offer referral services in Orthopaedics, CT imaging, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, lap spays and BOAS assessment supported by a 24-hour, on-site emergency service.
The team all have a passion for lifelong learning and many of the team either have, or are studying for, further qualifications so they may develop their interests and enhance the services that are offered to clients and their pets.
Independently owned and run, the practice opened in 1990, and is respected and established in the South West. Each year they continue to grow and develop the facilities allowing them to provide the best possible care for clients and their pets. The team gained five outstanding RCVS awards and are a Gold Cat Friendly Practice. There is a strong family culture which prioritises well-being and encouragement to develop each individual’s full potential.
