Applications are invited to join the team of five Veterinary Investigation Officers (VIOs) that work between the Inverness and Aberdeen Surveillance Hubs. Together with the team at the PM Centre in Thurso, the Inverness Hub provides a diagnostic and consultancy service to veterinary surgeons and farmers/crofters in the Highlands and Islands. The successful candidate will be involved in farm animal disease investigation and surveillance; technical support for the national BVD eradication programme and the Premium Cattle Health Scheme in addition to outreach work for veterinary practices, farmers, crofters and sporting estates.

Agricultural businesses in the Highlands and Islands range from crofting mainly on the West Coast and Hebrides to large cattle and sheep units in the east and north. Furthermore, we support disease investigations concerning gamebirds and work regularly with wildlife conservation agencies. The position will suit an individual with an interest in extensive livestock production looking to work in a rewarding role. Applicants with significant demonstrable farm animal practice looking for a new opportunity for development are encouraged to apply.
