We have the opportunity for 2 Medicine Interns to join our team.
The desire to pursue a residency is not a requirement, however, this internship program is aimed at preparing the candidate for an internal medicine residency. The successful candidates will need to be members of the RCVS at the time of starting the internship.

We have 2 positions available, with start dates in January 2022. The deadline for applications is Thursday 30th September 2021 at 12pm, with interviews taking place in October 2021. Two letters of recommen-dation will be requested from the shortlisted candidates.

Pride Veterinary Centre is a large, purpose built, state of the art referral hospital in Derby. The facilities include thirteen consultation rooms, seven hospital wards, five theatres, two ultrasound rooms, a cardiology suite, an advanced imaging suite with CT and MRI, interventional radiology capability, an endoscopy suite, hydrotherapy pool and treadmills, a dedicated chemotherapy room, and radioiodine treatment rooms.

Altogether, we encompass a team of more than eighty veterinary professionals, delivering specialist-led services across all disciplines. Our aim is to deliver world class patient care, with collaboration across all services to provide the best possible outcomes for all patients. Working alongside our referral practice, we also have a first opinion service and Vets@Night out of hours team. In addition, we have a dedicated leadership structure, and dedicated support services including on-site Finance, Customer Care, HR and IT teams.

We are currently taking applications for two small animal internal medicine interns. The successful applicants will join our established team of four ECVIM-CA & ACVIM internal medicine Diplomates and one residency trained ECVIM-CA internal medicine Clinician, one ECVIM-CA oncology Diplomate, three ECVIM-CA residents and dedicated medicine nurses. Rotating interns and students from the University of Nottingham rotate through our hospital.

Required skills and experience:

  1. Two years of clinical experience in general practice and/or would have performed a one-year rotating internship
  2. Member of the RCVS
  3. Good English Language skills, both verbal and written
  4. Excellent communication skills
  5. Ability to work and think clearly under pressure
  6. Good interpersonal skills

Would be good to have:

  1. Referral experience (not essential)
  2. Good sense of humour
  3. Passion and enthusiasm
  4. Desire to pursue a residency in Internal Medicine
