Established in Barnard Castle for over 70 years, Castle Veterinary Surgeons has evolved from a traditional Dales practice into two speciality areas, focusing on farm animals and pets thereby remaining capable of dealing with virtually everything the domestic animal world presents. Our modern facilities are purpose built which provides our excellent staff with the best possible work environment.

Are you an experienced Small Animal Vet looking for a new challenge? Are you passionate about providing a progressive veterinary service? Or perhaps you are a new or recent Graduate Vet looking for a supportive practice to work in?

If the answer is yes to any of the above then we have the role for you…

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Small Animal Vet to join Castle Veterinary Surgeons working at both our Barnard Castle and St Helens practices. We also welcome applications from new or recent Graduate Vets too - our tailor made New Graduate Programme offers you the right support network in practice by ensuring you have an experienced clinical mentor working alongside you in your practice. In addition, you will attend dedicated Continued Professional Development (CPD) days, supporting the development of your clinical skills and non-clinical skills, including self-leadership, teamwork, wellbeing, resilience and business, whilst also providing the opportunity for you to share experiences with fellow graduates. We will offer you a starting salary of £31,000 which increases to £33,500 at the end of year 1 and £36,500 at the end of year 2.

The main surgery at Barnard Castle is in a lovely rural market town, however, close to good transport links and the cities of Durham and Newcastle. The Lake District is easily visited via a very scenic trip over the A66. We have a team of 8 very experienced vets supported by 6 RVN's and 4 PCA's

We require someone to work 4 days per week plus a share of the weekend rota, but no overnight OOH.

In your role, some of the benefits you will receive include:
