Job Details

We’re building the best place to work in the veterinary industry. To date, we’ve built a 3,000 strong team working in and for a network of 360 practices and 25 state-of-the-art 24-hour centres. And we have even bigger ambitions.

So it’s an exciting time to join us, to build on our success and ensure we have the Graduates on board to enable us to grow exponentially – we aim to double in size over the next three years - while consistently delivering the exceptional care we’ve built our reputation on.

The role:

Everyone here is trustworthy and empowered, caring and progressive, and you will be too as you make this role your own and build our reputation as an employer of choice for graduate Vets.

We are looking for a Head of Graduate Programme to lead, drive and own the graduate programme for Graduate Veterinary Surgeons, you’ll play a key role in meeting the needs of clinical operations and enabling business growth. That begins by working closely with the Graduate Recruitment Manager ensuring there is a robust and effective resourcing plan in place to secure the best graduates in the UK and overseas.

Key accountabilities:

Overseeing every aspect of the graduate programme, you will ensure we are providing a effective pipeline of competent and confident veterinary surgeons, future Branch Partners and Regional Directors. This includes ensuring the Graduate Programme complies with the requirements of the RCVS VetGDP, vet mentors and a network of RCVS approved practices.

You will also build, design and manage an industry leading presence in the universities, maintaining engagement of our campus ambassadors and pipeline of EMS students, design and implement an exceptional EMS experience within our practices.

As Head of Graduate Programmes, you have what it takes to make this role your own. Here, you’ll be free to apply your expertise and creativity to making our graduate programme the envy of the industry, ensuring an exceptional experience for graduates and be recognised as the go to programme for graduate veterinary surgeons. And while experience in a multi-site organisation or the healthcare sector would be useful, more important is a big vision, strong leadership style, excellent relationship building skills. You’re also passionate about graduate development, up-to-date with the latest thinking and eager to stay abreast of events and opportunities.

In return, you can expect a rewarding, high profile role, lots of opportunities to shape how you work and a generous salary and benefits package designed to reward and recognise your contribution.

Skills and experience:

Essential to the role, you will be able to demonstrate you have previous experience working with Graduate Veterinary Surgeons, show you have high attention to detail including confidence in creating, analysing and delivering monthly reports and presentations to key stakeholders. You will also have a good knowledge of technology including Microsoft Office xls/ppt/teams, Zoom, whatsapp and Facebook.

Desirable, you will be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon for at least five years.
