Farm Veterinary Surgeon required at MBM Vet Group, Kilmarnock

The Role

We have a new and exciting opportunity available for a Farm Veterinary Surgeon to join our practice based in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire. This is an exciting time for MBM Veterinary Group as due to expansion of our farm work, a new facility is well advanced in the planning phase. Our priorities are to uphold a high standard of clinical practice, provide excellent communication skills, provide friendly client care, and ensure that everyone is working well as part of a highly motivated team. This role is ideally a full-time role, but we welcome applications from everyone and could consider flexible working patterns.

We have a 4.5-day week with a two in seven farm only out-of-hours rota equally shared and there is a generous holiday entitlement.

Clinical interests are encouraged, with generous funding for annual CPD, RCVS, VDS, BVA and one other professional membership. Study towards a relevant CertAVP is actively encouraged.

MBM Veterinary Group is a large friendly practice based in Ayrshire with dedicated equine, farm, and small animal teams. Ayrshire is a beautiful county in Scotland with one of the highest densities of livestock in the UK. The practice is based near Kilmarnock with excellent road and rail links to Glasgow and the hills and coast. We have a good mix of dairy (100+) and beef (200+) clients who are generally family run farms. The services offered to our clients include: - Easi-scan, Dairymate and TotalVet dairy software, bovine laparoscopy, bull and tup breeding soundness, embryo transfer, WOPA mobile hydraulic foot crush and in-house laboratory. There is a new farm and equine facility with a site purchased, plans costed and a planning application in progress.

Our current team is made up of six farm Veterinary Surgeons, which includes an RCVS Recognised Specialist and two Advanced Practitioners. All our Veterinary Surgeons have a broad range of interests, experience, and further qualifications.

We also have a structure of formal and informal farm team meetings to share thoughts and ideas to allow the team to input into the running of the practice.

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for an enthusiastic like-minded colleague with a commitment to the very highest standards of farm veterinary practice and client management. This role is an addition to our existing friendly and supportive team of six farm Veterinary Surgeons.
