Veterinary Surgeon required at Glenthorne Veterinary Group, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire

The Role

The day starts with a team brew, where the inpatients and operations are discussed with the Vet and nursing team.

The vets will then do a mixture of operating, working up medical cases, and consultations throughout the morning and early afternoon. The split between operating and consultations is adapted to the individual team members preferences, working to people's interests.

In the later afternoon-evening, Vets will consult, attend to in-patients and work up cases if urgent.

We believe that regular breaks throughout the day are essential for overall performance, mental well-being and productivity, and we have worked hard to implement a culture where taking breaks is actively encouraged.

Rota:

2- 4 days per week, we adopt a flexible working approach to meet the needs of those we employ where possible. Weekends on- call only from 8.30-10.30pm 1:5, no need to be onsite. Saturday mornings on a rota basis 8.30-12.45. We use an OOH service provider 10.30 pm-8.30am. 1:5 weeknights on call until 10.30 pm.

About Us

Glenthorne is set in rural Staffordshire on the edge of the peak district,
in the heart of the Midlands. With great links to the rest of the country, allowing easy and quick links to the major cities London, Manchester
and Birmingham.

The delights of the Peak District are on our doorstep, and many of our staff enjoy walking, horse riding, canoeing and biking in these areas.

We are a Farm and Small animal Practice, having vets that are SA, Farm and Mixed practitioners. We have a very friendly, close-knit team, and it is a pleasure to work alongside everyone.

There are 16 Vets and 11 nurses with a mix of Full time and Part time roles.

We have an Advanced Practitioner in SA Surgery, and Vets studying towards SA CertAVP.

We are a friendly, supportive team and do not have a high turnover
of staff, and have the ethos that if our staff our happy then so are our clients, and believe all the rest will then follow. In fact, this position is only arisen due to retirement after over 30 years at the Practice.

We are gradually splitting the farm and small animal teams, and we want to develop further small animal services that we can offer to our clients, moving away from our roots of a traditionally mixed practice, whilst maintaining our values, and fabulous working environment.

The Candidate

We would like a small animal veterinary surgeon with experience and an interest in medicine particularly, to help us develop services to offer to our clients. We would invest in new equipment as necessary.

We are looking for someone to help develop further skills within our team, so a willingness to share knowledge, experience and cases in a supportive and friendly environment is paramount.
