We are looking for a small animal vet for this family-friendly role, who would be interested in spending half their time at our Birstall 24h hospital and the remainder at our Thurmaston branch. This provides a mixture of hospital case variety and branch client interaction. We are interested in hearing what would be a good fit for you – so if this is close but not quite right then please get in touch and discuss your needs with us.

In the hospital you would work alongside our friendly and experienced team, which includes a certificate holder in Surgery, another in Emergency Critical Care, another studying towards a Dermatology certificate, and an experienced ultrasonographer. In the branch you would have time to develop great working relationships with clients and to develop the client-base and practice, always with the full back-up of the nearby hospital and its team.

  • Time split between Birstall 24h hospital and Thurmaston branch.
  • 1-5 days per week – please speak to us about what you are looking for.
  • 1/6 Saturdays
  • Consulting-only considered

  • Buy-out of certificate clawback considered

Salary up to 55k dependent on experience which includes:

Accommodation allowance £6,600 per annum

Vehicle Allowance £2,500 per annum

CPD allowance: £1,500 per annum + 3 days CPD leave per annum

RCVS, VDS & BVA fees paid by Medivet- £869 per annum

5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays

Medivet Birstall is one of our 24-hour practices which is open 365 days a year. The practice is equipped with the latest technology including ECG, In-house laboratory, operating theatre, digital x-ray, dentistry equipment and Ultrasound. The successful candidate will be joining a dedicated team of day and night staff. The practice sees a busy and varied caseload and is a training practice for nurses and Vets training on our Graduate Support Programme.

Our practice has a very long-standing and friendly client base who appreciate the personal service we provide. The practice has a fully supportive team that are dedicated to their clients and patients.

The practice is located just off the A6 and is a short distance from the A46, A607 and on-site parking for staff and customers. The practice is opposite a parade of shops with places to eat, supermarkets, cafes, banks and more all in walking distance

Our Thurmaston practice is situated in a lovely village close to the marina and the river Soar, with local amenities close by.
