The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Out of Hours Veterinary Nurse to 
join our team at Chelvets, Cheltenham. This is a highly rewarding job, where you will be dealing with a wide variety of urgent and critical medi-cal and surgical cases as well as inpatient care for a high-end first opi-nion practice with plenty of time off to enjoy the pleasures of life with excellent renumeration!

About Us

Providing OOH cover for most of the practices in Cheltenham, Chelvets is based at the Dragon Vet Centre and boasts hi-tech equipment including a GE 16-slice CT, High quality Doppler ultrasound (GE) with a wide range of abdominal and cardiac probes, multiple multi-parameter monitors, rigid and flexible endoscopy and full lab facilities including blood gas. All out equipment is available to OOH staff and use is encouraged.

With 14 vets and 20 nurses, we are a busy first opinion practice, regularly performing referral level work such as TPLO's, thoracotomies and imaging such as CT, endoscopy and echocardiography. We have several RCVS Advanced practitioners in small animal surgery, cardiology and internal medicine and our nurses hold qualifications in nutrition and behaviour.

Applicant Requirements

The candidate should be comfortable in working within a small, dedicated team including a vet, receptionist and animal care assistant and be able to triage and manage common medical and surgical emer-gency admissions alongside the vet who stays on-site overnight. An upbeat demeanour and the ability to communicate clearly and calmly with clients; both in person and over the telephone would be advantageous.
