Beech House Veterinary Surgery

Small Animal Vet required in Manchester – No OOH!

We are recruiting for a Small Animal Vet with a keen interest in surgery. We are looking to support someone who would like exposure to a large surgical caseload and would encourage a Surgery certificate pathway. We can offer direct, one to one mentorship from an Advanced Practitioner in Surgery, who visits the practice weekly, as well as mentorship from our Senior Vet.

We are calling out for someone who works to excellent clinical standards and looking to expand their skillset to join our growing team.

Beech House Veterinary Surgery is a long-established, modern, small animal practice on the outskirts of Radcliffe and Little Lever in Manchester. We benefit from a large variety of cases and a fabulous loyal client base. We are a team of long-standing staff, which includes; Practice Director, 4 Vets - 1 of whom has a certificate in Diagnostic Imaging, 9 clinical support staff including Head Nurse and 5 receptionists and an advanced practitioner referral clinician in surgery (soft tissue and orthopaedics) visiting weekly and available for support all week.

Our clinical support team is very strong and experienced and can support our Vets team at every level.

We are proud of our practice ethos, team morale and bonded clientele. This provides a great caseload to our team, which they can manage in our well-equipped first opinion clinic, which includes video endoscopy, ultrasonography, ECG, echocardiography, digital X-Ray, video otoscope, tonometer and in house comprehensive blood test including hormonal tests.

Our daily case log is a mix of routine, complex medical and surgical cases as we have the facilities to carry out orthopaedic and more complex procedures. We regularly invest in new equipment, staff training and we are open to any suggestions as case work up in-house is encouraged. We are in the process of installing laparoscopic surgery equipment in the practice as well as dental x-ray.

You will have access to a wider close-knit regional team of over 30 vets. We are proud to offer an internal referral service from vets holding certificates in Ophthalmology, Surgery and Diagnostic imaging. You will have access to Vet Oracle - a unique range of digital teleservices, led by veterinary Specialists and referral clinicians who provide interpretations and clinical advice in their respective disciplines.

This is a full-time position based at Beech House Veterinary Surgery in Radcliffe, Manchester and you will work a 4-day week (40 hours) with a 1 in 4-weekend rota and no OOH's. We would happily discuss P/T or some variation in shift patterns to suit, just get in touch for a chat.

In return, you will receive:
  • A fixed day off each week to find time to do something outside of work.
  • A competitive salary ranging from £33k - £36k per annum for a 1-2 years' qualified Vet, but can be flexible, depending on experience.
  • Bonus scheme
  • RCVS and VDS fees covered
  • Enhanced Maternity/Paternity/Adoption leave benefit of 10 weeks full and 10 weeks half pay
  • Up to 7 weeks annual leave plus Bank Holidays (or equivalent) with our Buy/Sell holiday scheme - allowing you to purchase an additional two weeks of annual leave
