We are offering support and progression, flexible working if required, full or part-time hours - Salary is £45-55K DOE and bonus scheme.

Career progression is just as important to us as it is to you. We are all strongly focused on development within the team and currently have 2 vets undertaking certificates. We would be keen to fund and support a certificate if you have a particular interest. Our standard budget is £1000/ year with 5 days for CPD however this is not set in stone.

Haven is a Small Animal practice based in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.

If you are wanting to join a forward thinking, progressive, supportive and loyal team. Who like to have a laugh to make the days go quicker, we are the practice for you.

Haven is a single site small animal practice based in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. The practice is a 5 minute drive away from the beach and easily commutable from Norwich (30 minutes by car). There are some beautiful areas nearby including the Broads National Park and Blakeney Point home to the largest seal colony in the country.

We are currently looking for a veterinary surgeon to join our friendly team currently made up of 5 vets, 10 nurses, 2 SVNs (soon to be qualified), 4 PCAs as well as our reception and admin team.

The practice is well equipped and purpose built with 6 consult rooms, 2 operating theatres, X-ray, prep and hospital. Equipment includes ultrasound, digital X-ray including dental X-ray, tonometry and in-house lab. In the theatres we have adjustable tables, wall mounted LED lighting, electrocautery, suction, endoscopy (flexible and rigid) and high standard surgical kits.

Most of our orthopaedics are done in house (MMPs, lateral sutures, fracture repairs) and we also have a Cardiologist who visits weekly.

Part time hours can also be accommodated.

Our working week is split into 2 days operating and 2 consulting with breaks (2x30 minute breaks and 1 hour lunch) and admin time structured into the consult list.

We offer:

  • All of your professional fees paid (RCVS, VDS, BVA, BSAVA)
  • Industry leading enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption pay
  • Company pension scheme
  • Cycle to Work scheme, Gymflex, Perkbox and more

Feedback

Here's what one of our Graduates thinks about working at Haven ''I joined Haven in June 2020 after reading the feedback of vet who worked at this practice. I was looking for a job where I would be supported and mentored and I've not been disappointed! The whole team is friendly and will always help each other when needed. I feel I have time here to do full work ups, discuss cases with my colleagues and write notes/ do admin. Management are really open to feedback and trialling new ideas to make our life a little bit easier e.g. extended consult times, more admin slots, investing in new equipment (we are currently updating our ultrasound scanner), booster vaccination only afternoons. There is a really varied case load and I have had the opportunity to see and do so much- in both surgery and medicine. I spend 2 days of my week operating and 2 days consulting, there are always 2 vets on Ops and usually 3 vets consulting. Consults are currently 30 minutes with dispensing done by reception. I've also really enjoyed not having the stress of OOH, but have still had exposure to emergency medicine with the occasional weekend day shifts we do at the 24 hour hospital 5 minutes away”.

If this sounds like your kind of role, we would love to hear from you. If you need any further information or would like to apply please email Nicola.Jacobs@havenveterinary.co.uk or call 01493416706.
