University of Bristol Veterinary School

Bristol Veterinary School (BVS) is expanding in research capacity,
driven by the implementation of an integrated Research Strategy and
the development of unique, state-of-the-art research facilities. Two overarching research themes – Population Health and Global Food Security – articulate existing research strength across the School and align with leading expertise across the University. These themes give the School the interdisciplinary critical mass to address key national and global challenges in broad areas of veterinary science and One Health research. Within these themes, BVS has a long-standing reputation for research programmes in Animal Welfare & Behaviour, Infection, Inflam-mation & Immunotherapy and Clinical Research. In recent years we have also built a well-funded research programme in One Health approaches to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and have made substantial invest-ments in platform technologies and allied data science expertise underpinning our research and impact.

Following a successful recruitment round in 2019 with appointments across production dairy science, animal welfare science, vaccinology
and immunotherapy, animal biometrics and deep learning, we are further adding to our research strengths. Appointees will spearhead new lines of collaborative research, innovation and impact to complement our existing programmes and posts.

With the aim to expand our critical research mass through strategic recruitment of excellent researchers and research leaders, the six posts in this round include positions in One Health Approaches to AMR (ACAD105360); Veterinary Clinical Bioinformatics and Predictive Analytics (ACAD105363); Animal Welfare Ethics and Sustainable Agriculture (ACAD105361); Animal Microbial Ecosystems (ACAD105362); Global Wildlife Health (ACAD105366) (linked to our flagship MSc in Global Wildlife Health and Conservation); and Pathology (ACAD105365).

Interview dates have been scheduled on 1st, 27th and 29th September 2021 for all roles with the exception of the Clinical Bioinformatics and Predictive Analysis role, which has been scheduled for 8th September 2021 (if applying please hold these dates free).

The closing date for applications is 11.59 pm on Sunday 1st August 2021.

For an informal discussion about the posts, please contact Professor Tim Parkin, Head of School, Bristol Veterinary School via hos-svs@bristol.ac.uk
