Job Details

Superb opportunity for a Small Animal Vet to join a state of the art, tier 3 Small Animal hospital. Vastly experienced team with many certificate holders, 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays and birthday leave, 4-day weeks!

Founded over a century ago, this RCVS accredited tier 3 Small Animal hospital with multiple branch sites is on the lookout for another Veterinary Surgeon to join their highly skilled, welcoming team.

The main hospital site, as you would expect, has fantastic equipment and facilities to enable full work ups in house including digital x-ray, ultrasound with separate cardiac probe and doppler, video endoscopy (gastroscope, bronchoscope), tonometry, multi-parameter monitoring.

A brand-new wing has just opened at the hospital with a first-class operating theatre, treatment rooms as well as a calm and spacious cat ward.

There are excellent rehabilitation units at the hospital including a purpose-built physiotherapy and hydrotherapy unit with K-laser pan therapy and aquatic treadmill, run by qualified physiotherapists.

The group employs over 100 members of staff, so represents a greta environment for learning and development. This includes over 20 vets, many of which are certificate holders, and working on a 2:1 nurse to vet ratio there are over 50 RVNs.

Although there is no night work with this role the practice does provide their own night service, so no need to transport patients elsewhere should they require hospitalisation.

Key Duties

This role will be primarily based at the main hospital site with option of doing some branch work if you would prefer. A full-time role is for a 40-hour week, spread across 4 or 5 days.

There is an element of weekend work with this role, 1 in 3 Saturday mornings, and a full weekend every quarter. There is also a second on call rota however it is very rare that you would be called out for this, it is paid in addition to your salary however if you do receive a call.

The practice is willing to accommodate clinical interests wherever possible.

Package and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary up to £55,000 depending on experience. As well as this you will receive:

  • 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays
  • Birthday leave
  • £1,500 CPD allowance plus 5 study days
  • RCVS and VDS membership paid
  • BSAVA membership paid
  • Contributory pension scheme

Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements

Ideally you will have at least 2 years' experience in Small Animal practice and be confident with routine surgeries and consultations.
