Job Details

One of last remaining independent practices in Edinburgh is looking for another excellent vet to join their experienced, friendly, and well qualified team. No OOH, 4-day week, 5 weeks holiday + bank holidays, generous package, and free pet treatments on offer for the successful candidate!

This is a well-established practice situated in the historical, elegant city of Edinburgh. Established almost 4 decades ago, the practice is one of the last remaining independent practices across the entire city region and due to this they are able to continue their ambition of delivering an exceptional standard of compassionate care to the pets and pet owners of Edinburgh.

Both sites are equally well-equipped and can operate individually with their array top-tier equipment including all the usual veterinary equipment to allow the practice to offer services in imaging (digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy), blood analysis with an in-house laboratory for rapid testing, dentistry, orthopaedic surgery, opthalmology, cardiology on top of the standard veterinary services.

The team has a wealth of experience and expertise. Currently there are 9 vets, all with their own interests and certificates in Surgery, Opthalmology, Cardiology, Feline Medicine, Dermatology and Dentistry.

The partners are actively involved in the practice and have vast experience between them on top of being incredibly approachable and supportive.

The nursing team consists of 5 RVNs plus supporting SVNs and VCAs.

There is a rapidly expanding, but lovely, client base, and a wide variety of interesting cases to work on.

Key Duties

The role is for a 4-day week - however there is some flexibility here depending on what works for you. The practice are keen to work the rota around you where possible.

You will be asked to work 1 in 2 Saturday mornings (9am-1pm) and 1 in 8 Sunday mornings (10am-1pm) however Sundays are consults only. There are no OOH.

The split between consults and surgery is down to your preference as a vet - if you have a surgical or medical bias both can be accommodated.

Package and Benefits

  • Generous salary for the right candidate ranging from £35,000 - £60,000
  • 5 weeks holiday + 2 bank holidays
  • No OOH
  • £1,500 and 5 days CPD allowance
  • Certificates funded and supported
