Job Details

At Regan Veterinary Group, we have a great opportunity for a small animal Veterinary Surgeon, with a minimum of 1+ years' experience, to join our team and share our passion for high quality veterinary care. We can also consider a very confident new or recent Graduate Vet.

You will be based at our Little Lane branch in Wigan, but will also have the opportunity to work occasionally at our Holly House branch also in Wigan.  You will work a 4-day week with a 1 in 4-weekend rota and no OOH's.  You will enjoy a varied and exciting caseload working in great facilities. You will have access to great equipment to include a high quality Ultrasound and Digital X-ray.

About us:

We are a high-end first opinion practice and would look for someone who would be keen to work cases up thoroughly, create their own bonded client base and communicate clearly with our clients. If you want to work in a “jab and go” manner, we would not be the right practice for you. We do expect our team to be able to justify their clinical decision making/frameworks through evidence based medicine whilst maintain a pragmatic approach to cases where there may be financial sensitivity.

We have regular quality improvement meetings within the practice to encourage case discussions. We have, in the last year alone, submitted two pieces of work to the RCVS QI awards scheme, one on informed client consent and one on improving clinical outcomes in patients presenting with ‘sore eyes'.

Our practice leadership team all proactively seek to have open and honest discussions with all the team and in the last year have focussed on ensuring all staff members get regular scheduled 1-2-1 discussions to ensure opportunities to discuss how our team are all doing. The culture within this group has been developed to ensure all the team feel they can have their say and feel listened to. We don't always get everything right, but we are also very happy to own our mistakes and learn from them and this is mirrored in the ‘no blame' culture across the whole team, which we think is key to ensuring the progression of our team. We will always have your back.

We know our chosen profession can place a lot of stress on our hugely compassionate team. We look to proactively support our team's emotional wellbeing, so alongside the excellent employee assistance support scheme programme you will have access to; there are onsite mental health first aiders who are trained in supporting people who may have mental health struggles. To us, open and honest discussions about any such matter help us support our team as best we possibly can.

We have all the normal equipment, additionally we offer laparoscopic surgery, an operating microscope, and advanced orthopaedic and ophthalmology equipment. If any of our team want us to consider adding to our facilities we would help guide you in your research with this and should this be viable would actively support installation of new facilities with training and marketing.

CPD wise, if there is a course you want to do we would ask you to come and bring us the information and we will always consider anything that helps develop our team and the clinical services we can offer to our clients.

Our rewards package includes:

  • Competitive salary – this is determined alongside a salary-banding scheme, which is available at all times for you to see, so you have complete visibility. Salary band for this role is up to £36,000 per annum DOE. There will be an annual salary review, which will be based on your performance within our team.
  • Attractive bonus scheme
  • Up to 7 weeks holiday a year plus Bank Holidays (with our buy & sell holiday scheme)
  • Fully funded CPD
  • RCVS and VDS fees paid

Veterinary Surgeon / Small Animal Vet / Vet / Full Time Job / Regan Veterinary Group / Greater Manchester

Company

CVS (UK) Limited was established in August 1999 to acquire and operate veterinary practices which were well established within their local community and had a reputation for high quality service.  It was recognised that the value of these businesses lay in the quality of their staff and the relationship they enjoyed with their existing clients. To build on this CVS provides professional management expertise in the areas of finance, personnel, practice management, Health & Safety etc,  thereby relieving the local staff of many administrative tasks, to enable them to concentrate on clinical care.

As the number of acquisitions increases,  so does the diversity of operational styles and approaches.  These are shared on a regular basis at meetings of all the clinical directors, giving each practice an opportunity to consider alternative approaches to common problems. New initiatives are considered by this group and then fed back to each of their businesses.

Since 2001 CVS has diversified by acquiring two businesses that offer veterinary histopathology and cytology, plus more general veterinary laboratory services. This provides a wealth of experience to the practice division and the profession in general.

A more recent development has been the focus in acquiring practices in close proximity to each other.  This enables the group to benefit from certain synergies, and provides an opportunity for internal referrals.  Through its support for quality CPD many of the company’s veterinary surgeons have acquired skills of value to their colleagues elsewhere in the group. CVS already employs veterinary Specialists who offer invaluable advice to their colleagues.

Other benefits have also emerged as the company has grown. The use of single suppliers for certain types of product has enabled CVS to get more competitive prices and better support from the manufacturers.  Care is taken not to compromise clinical judgment through its selection of products, and this is achieved by having a working party drawn from the Clinical Director team that considers all options and seeks agreement from their colleagues before arriving at a decision.

Further acquisitions are always being considered but care is taken to ensure that each one is compatible with the CVS culture. The key attributes are their location, their current standing in the local community, their overall performance and the willingness of the existing practice team to embrace the CVS approach to business.
