Job Details

This fantastic independent client in the picturesque town of Northallerton, North Yorkshire, would like to welcome another veterinary surgeon into their mixed practice.

This friendly, progressive, rural mixed practice has been established for almost 20 years and continues to grow rapidly.
The client offers a genuine mixed caseload of 50% small animals and 50% farm and equine.

The farm work consists mainly of large commercial beef and sheep farms, and a good number of smallholders. This combination allows you to quickly develop excellent skills dealing with lambings and calvings, caesareans, blood sampling and prolapses without being bored on routine dairy visits every morning.
There are also opportunities to become involved in flock health planning and high health schemes if this would be your area of interest. There is no TB testing as the team have their very own ATT.
The equine work is a combination of leisure and sport horses. Dentals, castrates, pre-purchase examinations, colic and lameness work ups are very common and you will soon become competent in all of these under the guidance of the other vets.

The team have lots of equipment for medical workups to a high standard including X-ray, ultrasound, blood machines, laproscopes and endoscopes. They perform a significant amount of advanced surgeries in-house, including most orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeries such as advanced fracture repair, TPLOs, patellar luxation repair, TECAs.

The team provide their own OOH which is always supported by the Head Vet who has over 20 years of experience.

This is a full time permanent position over 4 days per week which allows you plenty of time to become involved in all North Yorkshire has to offer. With 1 night a week on the OOH rota and 1 in 3 weekends.

Benefits include a competitive salary depending on experience (minimum £35k) and 25 days holiday, CPD / RCVS / VDS fees paid and a car.

The cities of York and Newcastle are just 30minutes away by train, as well as the North Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Dales on the doorstep.
