We're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Veterinary Surgeon to join our fantastic team here at Castle Veterinary Group. Generally, we try to pre-organise our week in advance so that each vet knows where they will be based between our two purpose - built clinics.

We normally have 2-3 vets TB testing from 9am Monday & Tuesday with 1 or 2 covering emergency calls and the rest of our 13 vet team reporting to either of the two clinics to deal with morning clinic appointments and in-patients. The morning clinic runs until 10.30am after which the team spilt into those covering large animal calls, TB testing or small animal procedures.

As this is a proper mixed practice, we try to divide these duties equally and fairly. Our afternoon clinic appointments run from 2-3.30pm with as many vets as possible covering the two sites. We try to give everyone the same opportunities to cover these appointments. With the work being unpredictable, as mixed practice tends to be, we do not structure fixed lunchtimes but encourage vets to get their lunch when they can. We often find that the time after afternoon surgery is great for dealing with cases of interest as more vets are often available to help the younger ones.

We also try to have formal hospital rounds for in-patients after the afternoon surgery. Our normal quitting time is 5.30pm with 2 vets staying on until 6.45pm to cover evening clinics, again on a rota system.

Castle Veterinary Group is a forward-thinking, established, practice with an excellent reputation within the community. Modern purpose built two centred mixed practice with in house labs, digital X-Ray, ultrasound, ECG, orthopaedic equipment etc.

The team consists of 13 vets, with an experienced support team of RVNs and nursing assistants.

We’re based at the foothills of the beautiful Mourne Mountains and just 30 minutes to Belfast, 90 minutes to Dublin.

The team consists of 13 vets, with an experienced support team of RVNs and nursing assistants. Cert holders in small animal medicine and small animal surgery.

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our team who are driven to provide our patients and clients with an exceptional level of care.
