Farm Vet

We are seeking a farm vet to join our team based in the beautiful grounds of Wiltshire College & University Centre, nestled between the attractive villages of Reybridge and Lacock, near J17 of the M4 and Chippenham, where there is a mainline train station.

Experience preferred but more recent grads may be considered

Avon was created in October 2020 by bringing two established practices together in an exciting merger which has enabled us to share skills and develop an on-call rota which offers excellent work-life balance alongside an interesting mix of work.

The team is comprised of 8 vets, 1 TB Tester, 1 Vet tech and a knowledgeable support team. We have a fantastic balance of experience and enthusiasm which the right candidate would add to. A good mix of dairy, beef and sheep work. TB testing and export certification is shared and supported by our full time OV. The practice has an active Flock Health Club and is currently developing a Vet Tech service which is primarily focusing on heifer rearing.

Facilities and equipment on site: Easi-scan ultrasound scanners, fully equipped lab, company vehicle provided.

How many Hours per week: Full time, 4.5 days, 37.5 hours per week.

Out of Hours/Weekends rota: Equally shared, currently 1 in 7 week nights and weekends.

Salary: Competitive, rising with experience.

Holiday entitlement: 22.5 days + Bank Holidays

CPD: Approximately £1,750 / 5 days pa.

Professional Memberships: RCVS, BVA and one additional body of choice (BCVA/SVS etc)
