Farm Veterinary Surgeon required at Westmorland Vets, Kendal, Cumbria

The Role

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Vet to join our team of dedicated farm animal Vets providing a top-quality service. This is an excellent opportunity to find a superb work life balance with flexible working. Our daily workload involves working alongside a mixture of proactive dairy, beef, and sheep clients as well as smallholders. Most of our TB testing falls into 4 yearly parishes and tests are shared out evenly between vets. We encourage our employees to further their knowledge and skill set through CPD and further qualifications.

  • Working days are flexible, a full time or part time candidate would be considered
  • 1:4 weeknights and weekends (full day off as compensation for a weekend on call)
  • Accommodation can be provided

About Us

Westmorland Farm Veterinary Service is part of the larger Westmorland Vet Group which operates out of two practices located in Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale. Both sites have lambing facilities and nurses who are happy to assist with anything from a calf hernia repair to a sheep cae-sarean. A fully equipped vehicle will be provided. We also provide the equipment to perform ram and beef fertility testing, in-house milk bacteriology, and dynamic parlour testing. To back this up we have Interherd+, TotalVet, and VetImpress to assist you in helping your new clients.

Our local area also has much to offer outside of working hours. Whether you are interested in hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, dinning out, shop-ping or sports; it will all be on your doorstep.

Our farm animal team consists of 5 Vets with over 70 years combined experience. As a team we consider ourselves to be incredibly motivated, supportive, and collaborative.

Applicant Requirements

The appropriate candidate will have an enthusiasm for the future of farm animal practice. They will also have the drive to not only maintain our high standards but develop the services we offer. The team actively encourages any new ideas to further our practice; whether they be innovative or simplistic in nature to streamline our delivery. A full UK driving license is required.
