Location: Birtley, Durham

Hours: Permanent, 40 hours a week,

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience £40-50k per annum

VetFinders are recruiting for a progressive, expanding, small animal practice in Durham. This proudly-independent practice is looking for a Small Animal and Exotics Veterinary Surgeon, with immediate effect. It is a fantastic opportunity for a 2 years plus qualified Vet to join a growing team, where excellent clinical and client care in delivered by the dedicated team.

The Role:

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you will need to be able and comfortable with a mixture of consultations and surgical procedures of general practice. Mainly small animal and exotics. A bias to Surgery is preferred but not essential. An opportunity to carve your own niche.

The ideal candidate will preferably have 2 years’ experience, although consideration will be given to an outstanding candidate with less experience.

This role is being offered on a permanent basis working 4 days 8:30am – 6:15pm per week. In addition, Saturday mornings 8:30am – 12noon every 1 in 3. NO OOH’s.

CPD is encouraged and supported, with full clinical freedom and the ability to follow your interests.  Case continuity allows you to build a great relationship with patients and clients. Development and progression of the team is important to the practice as it grows and evolves.

About the practice:

The Practice opened in March 2020 and, despite the pandemic, they have gone from strength to strength, seeing a wide range of cases across various species.

Their mission is to help people help their pets live life to the full with gold standard veterinary care from all the staff.

Their vision is for every pet, owner and staff member to be cared for and valued through exceptional communication and service, today and every day.

The team consists of 2 Vets, 5 RVNs. It has many years of experience to learn from and support is always freely available.

Also the Practice has:

  • All the usual facilities and equipment with investment a continual priority.
  • Separate wards and waiting rooms; imaging room; separate prep, theatre and dentistry.
  • On site advanced practitioner dermatologist with frequent visiting advanced practitioner ultra-sonographer as necessary and good local referral centres. One vet working towards exotic certificate.
  • Strong, friendly team with frequent socials.
